Guidance and Psychological Counselling MA

AIM

The aim of this program is to train psychological counselling and guidance professionals who deep and comprehensive knowledge and skills related to the sub-fields of psychological and guidance, take responsibility for the development of the field, and have scientific and professional ethical values.

GOAL

The aim of the course is to educate psychological counselling and guidance professionals who are proficient in the fields of school, mental health, family, career psychological counselling, equipped with traditional and contemporary theoretical knowledge, and who have cognitive competence, affective traits and behavioral skills about psychological counselling.

GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Having a bachelor's degree approved by the Institute Department (ID) and accepted by Institute Administration Commission (IAC).

ALES Minimum Score: 60

Foreign Language Score: 50

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

The criteria specified in the Sakarya University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations will be taken as basis.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Most of the program graduates work as psychological counselors in Guidance Research Centers and primary and secondary schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. In addition, there are employment opportunities as an academician in universities, in psychological counselling units of universities, special psychological counselling centers, psychological counselling units of Turkish Armed Forces and police institutions, family and child courts, and other health and industrial institutions / organizations.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Master's program with thesis consist of at least eight compulsory and elective courses, seminar course, specialization course to be taken each semester and thesis study, provided that it is not less than 120 ECTS credits. Seminar course, specialty course and thesis study are evaluated as successful or unsuccessful and are not calculated in the average.

MEASUREMENT AND ASSESSMENT

50% of ALES grade,

30% of science exam grade,

20% of undergraduate graduation grade.
