English Language Education Master’s Program (with thesis) aims to train field experts who possess the necessary skills to conduct research, interpret findings, and apply these findings to their teaching.
The mission of the program is to train experts who have comprehensive content knowledge in the field of English Language Education, who know how to access new and up-to-date information; who are able to follow innovations, developments and recent studies in the field and who have a good command of using the research methods and techniques to conduct similar studies; who are equipped with the necessary skills to contribute to education-training environment and the field by synthesizing practice and theory on the basis of social, scientific, and ethical values; who are able to conduct research autonomously and to share it in the academic field and environments. Our program, which aims to serve these goals, adopts the vision of contributing to the potential of well-qualified individuals in our country.
To be admitted to the program, candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in the undergraduate programs from the departments of Foreign Language Education, Western Language and Literature, Linguistics, English Linguistics or Translation and Interpretation. Furthermore, since the medium of instruction is English in our program, candidates must receive at least 80 (eighty) from the National Foreign Language Test (Yabancı Dil Sınavi-YDS) or an equivalent score in a foreign language test accepted by the Inter-University Council (Üniversitelerarası Kurul- ÜAK).
Apart from these, candidates who will apply to must meet the acceptance criteria indicated in Sakarya University Graduate Education Training Regulations and Principles of Senate (http://egitim.sakarya.edu.tr/tr/icerik/8452/17320/sau-lisansustu-egitim-yonetmeligi-senato-esaslari). In our program, there are 4 compulsory and 4 elective courses, a Seminar course, specialized field course (Uzmanlık Alan Dersi) which is required to be taken for every year, as well as the thesis studies (Education & Training Information System, https://ebs.sakarya.edu.tr/).
